Abdul Hamidullah Hamid: The Daddy of Kashmiri Orphan children

Kashmir happens to be a heaven for the tourists from across the world. But due to militancy this valley has been bloodshed ever since the early 90’s of the last Century. The state which once upon a time happen to be the crown on the head of this sub-continent India has been completely devastated due to militant activities.
Hamid was born at Mazhama, Dist. Budgam, Kashmir Valley in the year 1957. This place is located 40 kms away from the scenic State capital Srinagar near Raja Sri Pratap Singh Forest Range. His father was an unani doctor and was practising at Beerwa.

Hamid is the founding Director of
Kashmir Welfare Centre. He read the literature of Maulana Wazidudin Khan and was greatly influenced by it. Wazidudin was the founder of Centre for Peace Spirituality International, Nizamuddin West, New Delhi. Hamid was immensely motivated by those works and thought to teach the same gospel. He took the responsibility to spread the message of Allah in the entire state of Kashmir.
You need to know a Hindu could enter a mosque, but on the other hand across India Muslims are restricted from entering any Hindu precincts. But on the other hand Hamid has been serving food and water to Hindus during the festival of Mata Kheer Bhawani fair. He preaches the Quran in the temple premises itself during the time of fair. That apart he distributes the printed literature about his religion. Virtually more than 10,000 people gather to listen to his preaching. For the past two years he has been going to Tikkar in Kupwara. The spiritual oration of Hamid are so humble and sublime that there is never any discord by the Hindu pilgrims.

You need to know irrespective of the religion that they had preached every great spiritual leader across the world they themselves carried the works of humanity, be it Jesus Christ, Guru Nanak or Sai Baba of Shiridi. In the year 2001 Hamid withdrew 50,000 from his General Provident Fund and set up an orphanage by the name Apna Ghar. He set up this orphanage at his very own home. Initially he had given shelter to 18 orphans. Rearing two children at your own home is such a tough job as on this date. But his wife undertook the daunting task of  cooking food for the orphan children for all these years.

He found one child by the name

Zaved. That boy grew up under his shelter. Now he is working as a Gazetted Officer in the education department with Kashmir State Govt.
In the year 2003 he adopted a baby of 2 years old by the name Waqas Dar. His father was a chief of militant organization itself.
On the other hand Asif Wani completed B.Tech in civil engineering.
Dilal Hajam was an orphan now doing B.Tech at Kanyakumari.
Mazid  Reshi completed B.Sc and got placement with Kashmir Police.
Mustaq is working at Khan Saheb with the Unique Identification Authority(UIA) of India. It is the department which looks after Aadhar cards. This man is able to stand on his own by buying a plot of land and even married.

In the past 19 years Abdul Hamid has reared more than 300 orphan children in his orphanage Apna Ghar. This apart he has supported around 700 children indirectly.
Since 1987 he has kept on donating blood. Until now he raised awareness for blood donation and has organised around 80 camps and as per the register they have collected 1,000 units.
His organisation twice invited Nirmala Desh Pande as a Chief Guest to their events. She is a Member of Rajya Sabha. She was a noted Indian social activist who had embraced Gandhian philosophy.

It once so happened in the mountain he was returning when a gang of gunmen surrounded him and started abusing him. In the meanwhile one of his students spotted him and came to rescue him. He hugged Hamid and cried saying to spare his life. The kid pointed his finger towards the Apna Ghar and narrated Hamid is their daddy who looks after the orphans. Those gunmen were none other than extremists themselves. They believed in the words of the kid and laid the guns on the ground and touched their heads on the feet of Abdul Hamidullah Hamid Shah. Instead of revolting this humble man placed his hands on the shoulder of the terrorists and asked them to return to their previous good self.
